Sangeet Samarpan to Guruji Ustad Aashish Khan

The Aashish Khan School of World Music organized a two-day musical extravaganza, "Sangeet Samarpan to our guruji Ustad Aashish Khan," at Gyan Manch, Kolkata. The concert, held on February 11 and 12, 2025, was a heartfelt tribute to the legendary sarod maestro, Ustad Aashish Khan.

The first day of the concert, February 11, was a mesmerizing experience, with a lineup of talented artists paying homage to their guruji through their performances. The evening began with a captivating rendition of Raag Bhimpalashree and Raag Mishra Kafi by Pt. Debaprasad Chakraborty, accompanied by Mainak Biswas on the tabla. Dipanjana Bose Chanda then took the stage, presenting a soulful Khayal in Raag Madhuvanti, followed by a Thumri and a Hori in Mishra Khamaj and Mishra Pilu, respectively. Her performance was accompanied by Pt. Hiranmay Mitra on the harmonium and Dr. Abhishek Chatterjee on the tabla.

The evening also featured an enchanting Odissi recital by Guru Shib Narayan Banerjee, Koyeli Chatterjee, Ankit Pandey, and Sandip Gope. Malyaban Chatterjee's vocal recital of Raag Jog, accompanied by Indranil Mullick on the tabla and Kamalakshya Mukherjee on the harmonium, was another highlight of the evening. The day concluded with a scintillating performance by Indrayuddh Majumder, who presented Alap, Jod, and Jhala on Raag Suddh Basant, followed by a Gat in Vilyambit Teental, accompanied by Debjit Patitundi on the tabla.

The concert was attended by Padma Shri Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumder, who shared his thoughts on the concert, Aashish Khan School of World Music, and Ustad Aashish Khan. The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of Ustad Aashish Khan and the rich cultural heritage of Indian classical music.

The second day of the concert, February 12, promises to be equally enthralling, with another lineup of talented artists paying tribute to Ustad Aashish Khan.
