Ranjit Sarkar, born in Kolkata in 1975, is known for his unique approach to blending modern artistic forms with traditional symbolism. With a background in Indian-style painting, Ranjit’s works consistently explore the mutation of mythology and religious characters, offering viewers a deep and nuanced reflection on the interplay between human emotion and its surroundings. Drawing influences from Impressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism, Ranjit creates paintings that evoke both the “transitory” and the “eternal,” capturing moments in time while addressing timeless themes.

Exhibition Overview: In Prismatic Narratives, Ranjit moves away from conventional color schemes and embraces a mood-based, expressive use of color that aligns with his understanding of modernity and emotion. His works present an intriguing blend of the ephemeral and the immutable, using modern-day imagery juxtaposed with timeless themes, such as the celestial union of marriage. These paintings evoke a dialogue between fleeting fashions and enduring human values, a characteristic that parallels the modernist ideals set forth by 19th-century French critic Charles Baudelaire.

The exhibition reflects Ranjit’s ability to fuse aesthetic experimentation with emotional depth, as he crafts his unique visual language that transcends traditional artistic boundaries.
